MidOpt’s Red Edge filter is useful for NDVI/Vegetative Health Monitoring applications. Our Bi725 optical filter isolates the wavelength region where the most rapid change of reflectance occurs in foliage. When plants are stressed or dying, photosynthesis slows down or stops. IR wavelengths are absorbed, while more visible light–particularly red light–is reflected; therefore, the 725nm band is sensitive to vegetative stress and provides additional information relating to chlorophyll and nitrogen status used to distinguish healthy from stressed vegetation.
